Photos and camera
Where do my photos go?
Straight to your Photos library as a developed image. Standard and Maximum Detail capture are available without a subscription; actual delivered dimensions still depend on the device and source. A developed result is not an untouched original camera file.
Does importing a photo upload it?
No. A photo you choose is developed on your device with the selected recipe and saved back to Photos. Camera frames and imported photos are not sent to the Film Lab. Imports can be up to 200 MB; unusually large pixel dimensions are reduced before the film recipe is rendered to protect memory and stability.
Why does the viewfinder look different from other camera apps?
That’s the point—the preview and saved photo use the same film recipe. They are not pixel-for-pixel identical because live video, still capture, and random grain are processed separately. There is no editing step after capture.
Free and Pro
What is included for free?
The full basic camera, photo import, Standard and Maximum Detail capture, experimental Apple ProRAW on supported devices, Sunlit 64, Everyday 400, Street Mono 400, the Natural utility look, one replaceable saved custom recipe, the current weekly challenge, and one standard Film Lab generation per UTC day.
What does StreetFrame Pro include?
Twelve additional creative looks, for all 15 creative looks plus Natural; unlimited saved custom recipes with editing and file sharing; web research; and 30 Film Lab units per UTC calendar month. Pro does not gate the iPhone camera’s capture formats or resolution controls.
How much is Pro?
The base plans are $5.99 per month or $29.99 per year. The annual plan includes a 7-day trial for eligible new subscribers. App Store pricing and eligibility shown at purchase are authoritative.
How do I restore my subscription?
Open Settings using the gear icon, then choose Restore Purchases. Subscriptions are managed through your Apple ID.
Weekly challenges
How do weekly challenges update?
StreetFrame downloads a validated current assignment and several upcoming assignments from its public server, then caches them for offline use. If the feed is unavailable, the app uses its bundled fallback instead of leaving the screen empty. Challenge completion stays on this iPhone. You can explicitly enable or disable the generic local Monday reminder from the challenge screen or Settings; no notification token is sent to StreetFrame.
Film Lab and recipes
How does the Film Lab allowance work?
Free includes one standard generation per UTC day. Pro includes 30 units per UTC calendar month: a standard generation costs 1 unit and a web-researched generation costs 3.
Do completed Film Lab recipes survive an interruption?
Yes. After development succeeds, StreetFrame saves a completed recipe-only draft locally and includes it in private iCloud recipe backup until you keep or discard it. The original description, job token, and StoreKit proof are not included in that backed-up draft.
Recipe backup and restore
Where are my custom recipes stored?
StreetFrame is local-first: saved recipes remain in the app on your iPhone and work offline. They also sync as private CloudKit records in the database for your iCloud account. There is no StreetFrame account, and the private records use your iCloud storage.
What is included in recipe backup?
Saved custom recipes, completed recipe-only drafts, and the limited ownership, shelf, conflict, and deletion information needed to restore the library. Photos, original Film Lab descriptions, job tokens, and StoreKit proof are never included.
How do I restore recipes on a new iPhone?
Sign in to the same iCloud account, install StreetFrame, and open the app. StreetFrame downloads the private recipe library before uploading local changes. You can check Settings under Recipe Backup for “Up to Date” or tap Sync Now. Recipes you acquired while Pro was active remain usable and restorable without an active Pro subscription.
What happens if I change iCloud accounts?
Backup pauses and the recipes already on the iPhone stay local. Nothing is copied to the different iCloud account unless you explicitly choose “Merge Into This iCloud Account.” You can instead choose “Keep Only on This iPhone” to preserve account isolation. Your App Store purchase account and iCloud account can be different.
How do recipe deletions work?
Removing a recipe from the Film Shelf does not delete it. Confirming permanent deletion in Film Lab removes it locally and syncs that deletion to other devices using the same iCloud account, including an offline device when it reconnects. Deleting StreetFrame alone leaves the private iCloud library available for a later reinstall. A library export remains wherever you saved it until you delete the file separately.
Film looks
Are the named looks exact copies of physical film?
No. They are creative film-inspired interpretations unless the app explicitly displays a stronger evidence classification. Manufacturer and photographer names identify references, not affiliation or endorsement.
